First post here - saw this thread and had to join in. I grew up watching the Serious series and am so happy to be able to watch them again - thank you OP for posting the link.
The first series I saw, and probably still my favourite, was Serious Desert. I remember seeing the first episode of Serious Jungle, but was disappointed to learn that Nick Baker (who was a hero of mine from his days on the Really Wild Show) was only a judge for the auditions and not involved in the rest of the series. I only got to see Serious Jungle in its entirety in 2008, when the first five series were all repeated on CBBC to celebrate the airing of Serious Ocean.
I see that someone has already mentioned that the full names of the entire Serious Desert team were on an old version of Wikipedia. I think it was me that put them there to begin with - there was an article about the series in the winter 2003 issue of the Young RSPCA magazine called Animal Action (I've still got it hidden away in a drawer somewhere) that included their full names, which is where I sourced it from.
In terms of my favourite series in order (although Raleigh and Livingstone especially are pretty much interchangeable):
1) Desert
2) Amazon
3) Andes
4) Ocean
5) Raleigh
6) Livingstone
7) Jungle
8) Arctic
I did notice that the year after Raleigh, there was a very similar series on CBBC called Deadly Mission Madagascar (I never saw it myself, and cannot find full episodes online however). The basics seem to be much the same - eight UK children age 11-14 are selected to go on an environmental mission, this time to Madagascar. Unlike the Serious series however, this one seemed to focus much more on the conservation side of things rather than necessarily conquering an extreme environment.
