*flashbacks of the previous episode begin to play* JD *voiceover*: 20 enthusiastic teens arrived for the adventure of a lifetime.
Justin: *gasps and yells* It’s JD you guys!!!
*all the contestants run over to him, hollering and cheering and hugging him and high fiving and jumping around*
JD *voiceover*: The stakes were revealed to be higher than ever before, with two new pieces and a surprising twist…
JD *flashback*: …there will be no Right to Stay, you’re all locked in.
*shots of contestants gasping and making shocked expressions*JD *voiceover*: The discussion in the huts was all about partner selection. Some had top picks…
Caleb: But I do think Miranda is my top choice right now…
Michael: Emily, Meghan and Miranda. But Christina also wouldn’t be bad.
JD *voiceover*: While others only knew who they didn’t want.
Audrey: Justin… I can’t stand him! He’s so annoying!
JD *voiceover*: Minutes before the first challenge, it seemed that two teams had formed.
Daniel: My first choice is Allison.
Allison: I feel the same way!
*Daniel and Allison hug*
Scott: Hey Jess, can we talk?
Jessica: What’s up?
Scott: I want you to be my partner.
Jessica: You do? I’d love for you to be mine too!
JD: But from there it was straight to the partner selection, where anything could happen.
JD *flashback*: If you slip and fall off your pipe, you’re out of the challenge. The last guy and last girl standing win the mission, and together, they will pick ALL 10 TEAMS.
JD: *now on-screen* We left off with the teens hanging onto their poles just as the mission started. Now, find out who wins the missions, and the 10 teams that will compete to prove that they have the ultimate endurance!
*the Endurance: Easter Island intro plays www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1LaDQojZaI* *the contestants are set on their poles*
JD: Is everyone ready?
Everyone: Yeah!!
JD: Alright on your marks… get set… go!!
*the pipes move so they are hanging four feet above the water, and the contestants are left hanging on*
JD: Everyone’s holding on tight, this is a mission you don’t want to lose! Remember what your playing for, this is to have power in choosing the teams!
*shots of the contestants holding on for dear life* Ryan: God, help me… God I need you…
Caleb: *quickly glances at his CTR ring* Choose the right… right now that right is to win.
Tiana *to Christina*” Hang in there, girl, hang in there, don’t slip!
Christina: I’m trying! I’ll hang on if you hang on…
Tiana: Will do!
*3 minutes later* JD: You guys have been hanging on for 5 minutes and no one has fallen, great job everyone!
Emily: *whispering to herself* It’s all mind over matter, just focus on hanging on and nothing else…
Jason: *thinking Emily is talking to him* Huh? What was that, Em?
Emily: Oh, sorry Jason! Just talking to myself over here.
Jason: Jeez, Em! You were scaring me a bit there, thought you were talking to spirits.
Emily: I’m focusing! Maybe you could learn how to do that!
Jason: *jokingly* Well, sorry!
Anthony: Guys can I just make something really clear?
Patrick: What is it man?
Eric: Spill the beans!
Anthony: *seriously* If I don’t get the partner I want, this thing is rigged.
*everyone is stunned at his comments, Angela is seen rolling her eyes*Angela *confessional*: I was talking to Anthony earlier, and he said he really needs to get the partner he wants… clearly Anthony hasn’t watched enough of the show, if he did watch enough of it, he would know that partner selection never, ever, EVER goes completely smoothly.
Jessica: Ugh, I’m slipping!
Scott: Hang on Jess, just focus and use your whole body to hang on!
Daniel: Dang Scott, making it look easy…
*just then a number of splashes are heard* JD: Oh, three people down at once! Michael, Sofia and Tiana all went down…
Sofia: Dang it!
Sofia *confessional*: I’m really disappointed that I fell so quickly. I know that this mission was my chance to show I’m a strong player… this makes it more vital to prove myself to whoever my partner is early on. Michael *confessional*: Shoot! Now I’m automatically last pick for all the girls… other than maybe Anthony since he’s kinda rubbing them the wrong way with his attitude. Audrey: *yelling to JD* Can I get down? I don’t like hanging like this, it’s so uncomfortable! And I don’t want to rip my swimsuit!
Meghan: Forget about the swimsuit! Don’t you want to be able to pick your partner?
Audrey: I mean, yeah, but I hate this challenge!
Meghan: Well then, don’t be crying when you don’t get the partner you want!
Audrey: You wouldn’t dare…
Justin: *grins at her* Hi Audrey!
Audrey: Shut up, Justin! Can’t you just leave me alone and be quiet while I suffer in the worst pain I’ve felt since — *slips off her pole with a huge splash*
Meghan: Since right about now?
*a minute passes, but then contestants start dropping like flies* JD: It's been 12 minutes. Michael, Sofia, Tiana and Audrey were the first four to… *loud splashing can be heard, one after the other people drop* OH! Christina just went down… and there go Patrick and Justin! Now Eric and Ryan are down, and now Allison, Jessica, Caleb, Miranda and Daniel! Wow!
Allison *confessional*: Part of me is starting to wonder if I am really strong enough… I wonder if Daniel is less confident in possibly having me as a partner now. It makes me worry. Better cross my fingers…
Daniel *confessional*: I was really upset to have fallen off… I don’t want Allison to lose confidence in me.
*the remaining contestants are Angela, Meghan, Emily, Caleb, Scott and Anthony* JD: It’s between Angela, Meghan and Emily for the girls and Jason, Scott and Anthony for the guys.
Angela: Oh my gosh, I’m so close!
Meghan: Can both of you just fall now? I wanna win!
Emily: Well I wanna win too!
JD: Remember what you are playing for! You’ve been hanging on for almost 20 minutes, great job!
Jason: Hey Scott, would you mind getting off your pole? If you do, I’ll give you the partner you want!
Scott: Hmmm… I don’t know, man.
Anthony: You can’t trust him! He’s gonna flip on you!
Jason: Not like you wouldn’t do that!
Anthony: Shut up!
Jason: YOU shut up!
*Anthony promptly falls off his pole*
Anthony: UGH! *slaps the water*
*immediately after Anthony slips, Angela does too*
Angela: Shoot! I was so close…
JD: With Anthony and Angela off their poles, we’re down to the final two. Scott and Jason for the boys, Meghan and Emily for the girls.
Meghan: I want this so bad, I can feel it in my bones…
Scott: *silently focusing*
*Jason misjudges the spacing and slips off* JD: That’s it! Scott wins for the boys!
Scott: I won? Oh! I won!
*seconds later, Meghan also misjudges positioning and slips off*
JD: And Emily wins for the girls!
Emily: Yes!!
*both Scott and Emily jump off their poles* *everyone is now back on shore*JD: Scott, Emily, great stuff. You both lasted the longest and now you have the power to pick the teams. How does it feel?
Scott: Amazing! I feel very secure…
JD: I’m going to give you two fifteen minutes to privately discuss and form teams. Everyone else, wait with me here.
*everyone nods as Scott and Emily go off to make decisions* *on shore with the other nine girls*
Miranda: I’m not sure if I can trust Emily… she’s a nice girl, but she seems really competitive and I don’t know how fair or unfair she will make the teams.
Meghan: No kidding, I feel like she’s just gonna give herself the strongest guy.
Sofia: I feel like… I’m getting Anthony. I just have a gut feeling. And I don’t know if we’re gonna be a good fit.
Allison: Part of me feels like she will go with what I said and have me and Daniel, but I really don’t know at this point, it’s so scary.
Audrey: I’m probably with Justin. Goodbye, any chance I have of actually being able to gain something here.
Jessica *confessional*: I wasn’t really saying anything, since Scott won, and he told me he wanted to be my partner. I’m thinking he will stick to his word, but given that I wasn’t one of the last three girls standing, I don’t know if he feels the same about me as a partner now. Fingers crossed I guess?
Christina: Guys, what about Eric?
Angela: Oh yeah… see, he’s a really nice guy, and he’s one of the guys I get along with best. But… I’m not sure how strong he will be. And I think a few of the guys are a little wary of him…
Tiana: Why would the guys be wary of him?
Meghan: I think some of the guys find him annoying and a bit… “effeminate”. Though that really shouldn’t matter. Apparently the Holy Trinity *Caleb, Daniel, Ryan* are cool with him though. That’s a surprise.
Angela: Wow… that is surprising. I guess I wouldn’t mind being with Eric… I just don’t want him to put a target on our back.
Christina: Understandable…
Tiana: I guess we just have to wait a bit longer now.
*Scott and Emily are discussing partners*Emily: *writing a list* This list isn’t bad… but like some of these teams are a bit too predictable.
Scott: True… I don’t want to screw anyone over on purpose though.
Emily: I know, I know… but you can’t be too nice. I mean we’re already doing them a favour in this way *points at two spots on the list*
Scott: That’s true. I think the partners we’ve picked for ourselves are good. You did express wanting to work with him because he balances you out well.
Emily: Mmhmm… see I just don’t know where to put these two people without a disaster *points to two names*
Scott: True… really there might only be one solution to that. And I think we have it.
Emily: Yeah… I think this might be the final list.
Scott: Wait, hold on! I think this might work better… *swaps the names of two people around*
Emily: Oh yeah, that’s good! That’s good.
*Scott and Emily arrive back on shore, and JD brings the other contestants over*JD: Scott, Emily, you had fifteen minutes to decide on team formations. This is one of the most important moments of the game. Are you two happy with your decisions?
Emily: We’re both very happy. We tried to make this as fair for everyone as possible and made pairings that we think will work well together.
JD: Wow, that’s maybe the first time in a long time that I’ve heard someone say they tried to make the teams fair for everyone! So… let’s get started, tell us the first team.
Scott: So for Emily… we decided to put her with Patrick.
*all the guys gasp a bit*Patrick: Huh? What? *confused*
Scott: Pat, it’s you, man! You’re with Emily!
Patrick: What? *realizes, is very happy* OH!
JD: Patrick, come stand here next to Emily.
*Patrick does that and he and Emily hug, everyone claps*Patrick: Aww yes baby!!
Patrick *confessional*: I JUST WON THE LOTTERY! Oh yeah, oh yeah man, I got the strongest girl, WOO! JD: Emily and Patrick, the first ever team of the Endurance revival. Emily why did you pick Patrick?
Emily: Because he is a smart guy with a great personality, and he balances me out.
JD: Patrick… dude. She’s tough. And you look really happy right now!
Patrick: Oh, I’m so happy right now!
*everyone laughs*JD: Alright, who’s the next team?
Emily: Scott expressed to me that he really wanted this person as a partner, and he has a good rapport with her… the next team is Scott and Jessica.
*Jessica squeals and goes up to Scott, giving him a big hug, as everyone claps* JD: Scott and Jessica… this is the partner you wanted Jessica?
Jessica: Yes!
JD: And this is the partner you got. *to Emily and Scott* Emily, Scott, you picked your partners and both of you seem happy with your choices. But now it gets trickier. You had to pick all the other teams as well. What did you come up with?
*the suspense grows, accentuated with suspenseful music*Scott: The third team… is going to be… Caleb and Miranda.
*everyone claps, Caleb and Miranda hug and walk up together*Scott: Caleb and Miranda, congratulations, stay up here with us now.
Caleb: *whispers to Miranda* I hoped I would get you!
Miranda: *smiles* Well now you have me!
Emily: For the fourth team, we had a lot of disagreements initially, but now we think this will be a good pairing. Come on up, Eric and Angela.
*Eric is a little shocked, as is Angela. But they hug and go up to the front, with everyone clapping again*Eric *confessional*: I’m a little worried about how Angela feels about having me as a partner. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t her first choice, or even her second. But she is nice to me, and seems to be the type who doesn’t judge too quickly, so I think if we have good communication we could be a good team. Crossing my fingers! Scott: The fifth team of Endurance: Easter Island is going to be Meghan…
*everyone looks around. Meghan has been considered one of the stronger girls from the start. Jason and Anthony in particular are on the edge of their non-existent seats*
Scott: … and Ryan.
*loud gasps from everyone. Ryan’s eyes go wide* Ryan: Wait what?
Meghan: *laughs* Ryan, get over here!
*Ryan, completely stunned, and a little embarrassed since he sees Jason and Anthony glaring at both him and Scott, goes over to Meghan, who hugs him. They go up to the front and slowly people begin to clap* JD: Meghan and Ryan, the fifth team.
Ryan *confessional*: Well dang… I’m pretty sure Jason and Anthony hate me now that I have Meghan as a partner. Actually, I think all the guys are jealous. It definitely doesn’t feel great, since I’m not sure if the guys will forget about it or hold a grudge against me for the rest of the game. That being said, I think me and Meghan are a good brains and brawn combo. Emily: Team number six, Michael and Christina.
*Christina is very unsure about Michael, given how he was first to fall during the challenge, but she doesn’t let this show openly* JD: How do you two feel about having each other as partners?
Christina: I think Michael is a smart player and has a good social gameplay, so I think we have a chance.
Michael: Christina’s a nice girl and she’s very determined, so I can definitely work with her.
*Daniel, Jason, Anthony, Justin, Sofia, Tiana, Allison and Audrey remain. Daniel and Allison are both beginning to think that they might have been split up, Sofia is convinced she got Anthony, and Audrey is cringing more and more as she realizes she might end up with her last pick, Justin* Scott: The seventh team… these two people expressed to us when asked before the challenge that they wanted to be together. Daniel and Allison!
*Daniel and Allison, both relieved, hug each other and go up front, everyone claps, though the people who still don’t have partners are all getting more nervous by the minute* JD: Allison and Daniel. You two wanted to be partners?
Daniel: Absolutely!
Allison: Yes!
JD: Well now you are partners, you’ve been rewarded. Congratulations.
Emily: Now for the eighth team. From here, it was honestly a lot harder. We switched these teams around multiple times. We finally settled on what we have now. The eighth Endurance team is… Jason and Tiana.
*Jason’s still a little bummed over not getting Meghan or Miranda, but he seems to not be too upset over Tiana. They hug and head up from, once again to claps.*
JD: Jason and Tiana. Only two more teams…
*Anthony is tense because he missed out on Meghan, Miranda and Emily, and he’s not convinced of Audrey or Sofia’s abilities. Audrey is tense because she’s convinced she’s paired with Justin, her last choice. Justin is equally convinced he’s been put with Audrey, and he also doesn’t want her. And Sofia just doesn’t think she can put up with Anthony, who she thinks she’s been paired with*
Scott: The last two teams. We thought long and hard about this, and we really don’t want anyone’s feelings to be hurt here.
*this just causes all four to be more tense and upset*
Scott: After a lot of disagreement, we made our decisions.
Emily: The final two teams… we’ve chosen to pair up…
*long drawn out tense silence*
Emily: … Justin and Sofia, and Audrey and Anthony.
Anthony: *breathes a sigh of relief*
Sofia: *quietly* Phew!
Audrey and Justin: *at the same time, whispered/sighed* Oh thank god!
*clapping as the final two teams hug and join everyone else at the front* Justin *confessional*: I was starting to think I got put with Audrey, and I knew she was thinking the same thing. I’m real glad I got Sofia instead. I know Sofia was equally happy since she didn’t want Anthony.
Anthony *confessional*: So… I didn’t get the best girl. But… Audrey isn’t the worst. At least she’s honest and can handle me. I’ll deal with it.
Audrey *confessional*: Thank the lord! I didn’t get Justin, hallelujah… Anthony’s a football player and he’s a tough guy, so we’re gonna be a strong team. Watch out! JD: There we have it! Our ten teams. However… you might notice we’re missing something.
Tiana: Team colours!
JD: That’s right, Tiana! And team colours is what our next challenge is all about. Take the next hour to strategize and get to know your teammate better. Meet me afterwards for the next challenge. Enjoy your time with your partner!
