Thanks to Endurancefan101, I've started rewatching E3, and here some interesting tidbits:
Casting Special:
It's interesting on how they choose the cities for a particular casting call; I know a lot of E1 contestants were from the Chicago area; Aaron was from Bozeman, MT, so they also obviously went there. Even more so on how they didn't go to NYC, Seattle, or SF haha. Maybe budgeting?
I have a feeling they would hint at the final twenty contestants throughout the entire episode, though they also shown some of those who didn't make it.
Out of those, Erin and Starr had quite the background.
What a shame that Peter didn't get chances onto E4-E6. He was twelve then, so he could've auditioned for those seasons because he would've matured by then.
So Julie could've been on E3, Nicole could've been on E2; on other wavelengths, Dakota and Darci could've been on E4 (I've read a blog post form Darci on how she auditioned for E4 and got into the final 40, so). How could've the game been changed if they were around?
Aw man, if Eleanor survived the right to stay...she seemed like a character.
Alex and Antonio should've gone further as well. As for Willa, she has quite the personality and the skills; too bad on how she was portrayed. And Nicole was quite fun in her audition tapes!
How did J.D. know Monroe would be watching the show? It was quite the coincidence there haha. And that reaction; I wonder how Daniela felt when getting onto E4, considering that she saw herself as a large fan?
"I think I'll be able to judge who's there because they really really want it, and who's there just cause it's fun. I'm here just cause it's fun, but I also really really want it." Alex. How important is this quote looking into Endurance and strategies for being on the show?
Antonio: "I'm going to do the best I can; I'm going to do well with my partner..." Well...
"This is not paradise, this is Endurance: Hawaii."

So people who first auditioned for E3 from casting calls: Vanetta, Bryanah, Sarah, Lindi, Bjorn, Antonio... don't remember who else was in that segment honestly lmao
Erin and Peter seemed really interesting. Was Starr the one that was dancing and breaking it down like "Ooh, Endurance, ooh ooh Endurance"? I know she was the one who screamed and ran from her phone lol.
I wonder how they even filmed those segments with JD... I mean they must know they're on the show at that point right, if there's a whole camera crew at their house? But still you can tell their reactions were genuine. I teared up at Monroe's honestly
I wish we saw more of Chris, considering he wins the season
I'm glad you liked Eleanor! I always loved her. She amused me a lot on this casting special, and she was a very funny/awesome person on the old boards.
I didn't remember that E3 cast all met up and got onto that truck thing. I wish we got to know more about how the first days of Endurance worked. It seems like they get to Hawaii, go to that hotel, do interviews (where all those interviews with the white background are from) and then got on a truck and went to location. However, I know in E5 they literally forbade the cast from talking to each other until they moved into the huts.

I think there was some people hanging out in the closing scene. I also saw photos of the cast together on E5 before they left for the huts. Maybe they had to keep their impressions quiet?

Are you sure? I feel like I know the pic you're talking about, and I don't think it's from before they left? Where's yellowlilly when you need her...

I wish they did casting specials for every season. They are so fascinating! I wish they did one for E1. I wanna know how casting worked for that season Regarding E1,a lot of their parents had connections to casting/talent agencies or they were child models, etc. As far as the casting special, I believed they were told that the camera crews were there to film them for an additional round of auditions, that they were wanted to be seen in a natural course of their day. The thing with Monroe? I'm sure that was planned in advance.

Brandon was a really big character in his audition tape, but was quite shy in his time on the show.

For Eleanor: "She's obviously a big fan, knowing the wood, water, and fire."
Not bashing Eleanor or claiming she wasn't a fan, but I honestly laughed out loud when that casting guy said this.
All you need to do is watch 1 episode to know this lmao

So I'm up to Squaring Off in my rewatch so far. I don't know if this is just me, but does it feel to anyone else like the kids & their dialogue this season is... less mature than most of the others? Obviously this season is gold and the drama is A++, but I can't help but wonder if a lot of the drama was caused BECAUSE of the more juvenile mindsets of many of the contestants. (especially the "clique-y" girls like Sarah and Nicole... Bryanah and Alex seem like the only girls who are actually Real?) Plus, the strategizing doesn't appear to be very solid among anybody as far as alliances go and how to work the system during competitions. (honestly I'm soooooooooo glad Yellow slayed in Bagging On You, but I was sitting there like.. why the heckie did no one eliminate them? not even Red???) And Purple and Brown team's decisions in Squaring Off...
Also, just to be clear I'm not complaining hahaha this season is a masterpiece. I was just surprised!

Gray was the only smart team strategy wise. They really knew how to avoid dirty work and put it off onto the Orange Team, such as letting them win Squaring Off so they didn't have to send up Green and Yellow. Nicole basically lived to be the center of attention, drama and making power moves so it worked out for her too. She wasn't afraid to make enemies unlike Gray. Chris was even trying to keep blood off his hands before teams when he formulated the partner game strategy with Lindi so he wouldn't look like the bad guy for wanting her over Bryanah. This allowed him to keep Bryanah's trust which was so essential for Gray.

"All the guys like Lindi. LINDI LINDI LINDI. They only like her because of her looks." *a couple episodes later becomes good friends with Lindi* Sarah: "Bryannah needs to go. She only talks to guys." TBH seems like Sarah is just jealous of every girl who guys have their eye on. She got no attention and I think she was not friends with people because she was jealous of them.

I totally agree with both of you! Though I may not personally be a fan of the Gray team, they're for sure the most respectable team (aside from Yellow) as far as strategy goes.
And on the Sarah thing, that was one of the first things that caught my attention when I started watching. She seemed OBSESSED with the idea that everyone there was "shallow" and "basing everything on looks", when in reality they really weren't lol. (maybe that had a small influence in deciding who to give the free ride to?) In the end, it makes her look like the shallow one.

She was cool but I did not like her attitude at all.
