Endurance is notable for providing relatively fair edits for everybody, and it shows. J.D. believes that a good person could look better, and a bad person look worse with a good edit, and you can't make a bad person look like the hero.
Despite this, which contestants deserved more attention through how they are edited? Not necessarily with their characterization, but with how many confessionals they got and such.
E1: What surprised me with chrisl123 's confessional count was with how Jon wasn't prominently featured throughout the season (which says a lot about how the girls ran this season, haha). He had the same number of confessionals as Chelsea, but he was in five more episodes than she was, which averaged out to only 1.3 confessionals per episode. In his words:
"Jon? What happened here?! He's good looking, on a strong and popular team with the most vocal and powerful player in the game. How does he fall into her shadow and not get any airtime really? Every confessional he did have seem well articulated to me? I mean nothing was ground breaking but I disagree [that] the producers didn't find anything he said interesting almost ever for them to dupe him like that."
It's also curious because despite working well together with Sabrina, we only get hints of how he objected to her planned betrayals. We only get to see his character blossom in the latter half of the season, in which he was infatuated with Ashley. What if we got a bit more of him?
E2: Gray for sure--we only know a bit about their alliance after they got eliminated. We hardly get bits of them from the partner selection until their elimination. Maybe the focus was on how Blue was split in terms of allying with Brown or not.
Also, Jeff. Annie was definitely the main force of the Purple Team (in terms of characterization), but how did he feel about the alliances? Someone on Reddit believed Purple had one of the weakest edits of their season, which is strange because they were also one of the strongest teams.
E3: Antonio--we got Willa's POV about their partnership, but hardly any of his. Kind of sad because he was a definite character during the casting special.
E4: Kylie, because we don't get to know her very well until the final five. The confessionals she had were quite insightful, but we don't know how she worked with Orange up to that point. There could've also been a potentially missed underdog edit, but I'm not sure.
And apparently, Jeszie got no confessionals between episodes 4-7 of this season. It's kind of surprising considering she was one of the largest personalities of Tehachapi. Did her quotes ensure those bits weren't necessary?
E5: This is an interesting one. I was inspired to do this because Kristine got no confessionals in the first three episodes. That stood out to me in particular.
--ike: He gets one confessional after the RTS, and then nothing until Move it Along. In Hot Potato, he was the center of drama; we never really got his perspective on having Taylor as a partner (especially as she was the major focus of the previous two episodes). He also hints at the alliance deceiving him, but how could he have expanded on that?
--Red in general: They seemed to want to make everyone happy, but is almost lumped in with their alliance in terms of allegiance.
E6: Blue! They pulled off the ultimate David vs. Goliath, but there's nothing for us to latch on other than they were "nice". Ben got no confessionals in episodes 2-5, and most of Jordyn's were in the last two episodes. Though the shorter amount of time doesn't help here.
