Theme song:
20 contestants (the kids climbing up the side of a rocky cliff)
12 challenges (girl in yellow catching a ball, 4 boys fighting over something in the sand)
1 ocean (girl falling in the water-AHH)
Endurance: Atlantic(crashing waves, logo)
JD: Glad to see that you all made it here. There were a few spills on the way but you made it. (few sblack persons and smiles) Welcome to Endurance: Atlantic. (hoots and hollering, cheering) This environment is very different from home life. There’s no warm water, soft beds, or even electricity. The nights can get pretty cold here too. And over the next few weeks you’ll compete in missions that will push you to your limits. You all know how this game works. There’s 13 pyramid pieces that your team will need to collect before you can win. They are all the qualities needed for true endurance. Commitment, ingenuity, leadership, knowledge, friendship, trust, discipline, heart, strength, luck, perseverance, teamwork, and I’m forgetting one...oh yeah courage. Now before you can tuck into those cabins over there you’ll have to prove you deserve this, right? (groans) I know, I know. No one likes this part of the game. It’s the Right to Stay Challenge. And we’re gonna play it today. So go ahead and dump your bags and check out the cabins. The mission will be in a few hours.
(everybody running over to the rustic cabins-checking them out and claiming bunks)
Kyle: Dude, this is tight. (high five-ing Greg)
Sandy: Heyy come here. Look at this. It’s a loft. (climbing up a ladder) And it’s got a window in the ceiling!!
(“awesome”, “whoa”, “cool” Heather, Ethan, Sandy come up to see)
Addi: This is so cool. I can’t believe I’m here. I don’t want to leave.
Bella: I know me either. Gah I’m scared for the challenge now. Thanks a lot. (smiling)
Addi: (laughing) Me too. That would suck so bad to come all this way and then not get to stay at least one night.
Tonya: Come on guys think positive. Don’t psych yourself out. Usually the RTS is like holding on for as long as you can. And thats really all mental.
*Grace*: Aw man. I really wanted to have this challenge tomorrow... or never. It stinks that we’re not even gonna get to know some of these kids. Cus they’ll get eliminated so early. Not me though. I’m staying.
(Greg Ethan Dave Kyle doing pull-ups on the rafters-Heather Luke Natalie watching)
[Luke]:(hands on his head) Crapppp. These guys are like beasts!! I need to go all Hulk on ‘em. Like right now. Get mean and green. (flexes arm muscles-very small muscles, sigh) I’m so screwed.
*Sophia*: Everybody wants it so you’re gonna have to push yourself more than they do. Go hard or go home.
(contestants walking out to the flat rock again)
JD: Hey guys and girls. (Heyy in response, Yo from Kyle) It’s time. You’ve all gotten to know each other a bit and now you’ll be competing against each other to secure one of the 14 spots. 7 for the ladies and 7 for the guys. So here’s how it will work.
Theres that long thick metal bar out there 10ft above the ocean. You’ll each have to hang on with your arms and legs wrapped around it for as long as you can. If you’re one of the first 3 to fall then sadly, you are eliminated from Endurance. You’ll have to pack your bags and head back home. But if you manage to endure past the pain and keep from slipping off then you’ve earned the right to stay another few days on Endurance. Any questions?
Kevin: Umm yeah, how cold is that water?
(laughing)
JD: Oh about 50 degrees. Everybody ready? How bout the girls go on out first. Good luck.
(flashes over to the girls on the bar)
JD: And time starts now! So guys any ideas on who’s for sure gonna make it to the final 14?
Mike: Tonya for sure. She does volleyball, so she’s got the arm and leg muscles for it.
Kevin: Yeah. Remember she was like swinging from the rafters to the loft and stuff earlier.
(laughing)
Kyle: I hope Heather makes it.
Ethan: Yeah and Natalie too.
(zoom over to the girls)
Natalie: Ahh this is hard. I’m already slipping.
Addi: Owww my arms are burning.
-3 min-
JD: You girls are doing great. You’ve been hanging for 3 minutes.
(guys cheering)
JD: Everybody is moving out there. Trying to get a good grip on the bar.
Rachel: AH! (legs slip off so she’s just hanging by her arms)
(guys yelling)
Bella: NO! Come on pull your legs back up. Your gonna fa- (SPLASH-Rachel falls)
JD: Oh there goes Rachel. She’s the first girl to be eliminated. You’re doing great out there ladies. Keep holding on!
*Rachel*: (shivering) I did the best I could. My arms went numb awhile back and I...I just couldn’t hold on anymore. I can’t really be disappointed in myself cus I gave it all I had. But it sucks that I didn’t make it. Well I had a lot of fun while I was here. These people are all great.
-7 min-
(back out to the girls on the bar-everyone’s grip is slipping so they shift to find a better spot)
Heather: I hate this.
Clint: No, what you’ll really hate is falling in the water. It’s freezing. Don’t let go.
(guys cheering-SPLASH-zooms out to water again)
JD: It was Natalie.
Heather: NOOO! Natalie...
(guys with mouths wide open)
Ethan: Oh dude. I didn’t see that coming...
*Natalie*: (crying) That was s...s...so hard. (sniff) Like the h...h..hardest thing I’ve ever done. I just slipped off. I was doing good f...f...for awhile. But then my legs gave out and my arms couldn’t hold me anymore. And...and I fell. (wiping her eyes) I guess I’m proud for getting picked to be on the show in the first place. And meeting all these kids. (sniff) I wa...wanted to make it a lot farther than this though.
(back out to the girls)
Kelly Ann: Ughhh. I’m slipping.
Addi: I know girl, me too.
Sophia: Somebody just fall. Come on.
Heather: I can’t do this anymore.
JD: Man these girls are tough. They’ve been out there for 8 minutes and counting. (SPLASH) Oh th (SPLASH) WOW two almost at the same time. But the first one is out.
Dave: Wait so who fell first?
JD: Addison fell a few seconds before Kelly Ann. So Addi is out and Kelly Ann is in. CONGRATS GIRLS. The rest of you made it!!
(splashes as the girls let go-shivering and cheering and hugging-guys cheering on shore)
*Addi*: (crying) I’m so mad at myself. I don’t even know what to say. If I woulda held on like 10 seconds longer...(head in her hands crying)...I’m glad Kelly Ann made it though. She’s a real sweet girl. Good luck to her and the others. I’ll miss them all. (sniff)
(girls on shore and guys on the bar)
JD: We know who the final girls are. Now let’s find out the guys. Ready out there? (YEAH, cheering) Kay GO! The guys saw you girls do it. And you all held on a long time.
Grace: They got a lot to live up to now.
(girls cheering- flashes out to guys)
Dave: (breathes out, whispers) I want this. I can do this. I want this.
JD: Looks like Mike is really struggling. (Mike hanging by his arms then swinging his legs back up, then slipping and trying to readjust his grip)
(girls cheering for Mike-Come on!!, You got this!!)
Mike: AHH (SPLASH)
(“No!!” “Mike” “aww”)
JD: Oh Mike is in the water. Two more to fall and the game will be over. It’s not as easy as it looks.
*Mike*: (angry) Man. I just kept slipping. I couldn’t get a good grip at all. I know I coulda stayed on a lot longer. That metal bar...it was so slippery. Dang it!! (running his hand through his hair)
-5 min-
JD: These guys are so focused. No one has said anything at all and they barely moved for 5 minutes.
(girls screaming and cheering)
-7 min-
(guys shifting around alot- shaking out their arms and readjusting)
JD: Doing great guys. That’s 7 minutes.
Luke: I don’t know how much longer I can do this.
Kelly Ann: You can do it forever. Come on. WOOO!!
-8:32-
Brent: My arms are numb. I can’t feel them.
Clint: Lucky. I can feel mine and they’re gonna rip off in a few.
Luke: Mine already did. I don’t know how I’m still up here.
Kevin: I’m up here cus I don’t wanna get wet.
Sandy: YEAH! Stay dry Kevin!!
(laughing)
JD: That’s 9 minutes you’ve been out there.
Luke: Ah shoot. I’m going...(slipping off slowly-SPLASH)
(“aww Luke” “you did so good” clapping)
*Luke*: (smiling) I’m so proud of myself. I held on for so much longer than I thought I would. I cant even do one pull-up but I held on for over 9 minutes. I’m sad that I can’t stay here, but I pushed myself so hard today. Good luck to everyone left here. Peace out.
-10 minutes-
JD: That’s the 10 minute mark guys.
(girls getting kinda hoarse from screaming for so long “You’re beasts” “I love you guys!!”)
(“AHH”-SPLASH)
(replay- a boy slipping off with limbs flailing as he falls into the water)
JD: Oh there goes Clint. That’s three down so we have our final 14 competitors on Endurance: Atlantic. (guys drop in the water- yelling and dunking each other)
*Clint*: That was insanely hard. Every muscle in my body hurts. Ugh... yeah I’m proud that I lasted that long. But I really really wanted to get teams at least. So I’m kinda pissed off. But I couldn’t have outlasted these guys that are left. I couldn’t of held on any longer.
(guys and girls back on the beach)
JD: Congratulations!! Give yourself a round of applause (cheering and clapping and Kelly Ann hugging Grace) You all standing here have earned a spot as the final 14. That challenge was extremely hard but it’s a mark of what’s to come. So get ready. Enjoy your night. I’ll see you in the morning concerning teams and partners. The game is on!
