Gosh this just has me so jazzed. I know you said you’re here to answer questions but I can’t help but feel bad for bombarding you LOL. I’m curious about how contestants’ perceptions of the show have changed over time. Do you remember Endurance just as some experience you had as a kid (i.e. like a summer camp, you did it and it’s just something that you did and you don’t feel one way or another about it) or do you look back with a certain type of fondness or nostalgia? I hope that makes some sort of sense, haha. Although it’s probably been some time since you saw Endurance, do you recall the editing of the show to be fair to the contestants? Endurance always struck me as a fairly edited show (especially one that has to condense a 3 week experience into several 30 minute episodes), but without being there and knowing the true personalities of the people at the time it’s difficult to make that assumption. Lol I don’t feel bombarded at all haha. I definitely have quite the fondness from the filming process. It was one of the first times I was alone without my parents for a long time so it was a big growing process for myself which I needed and enjoyed. I mean the show was obviously massively edited and I am amazed by how they were able to piece together a story with how much footage they would’ve had. I don’t remember much about what was actually televised though since I was in it I remember more as a whole and not a 30 minute clip so it is hard for me to answer that unfortunately.

Hi Chelsea! Thank you for coming to the boards! This is awesome! I've got a few questions for you.
My first question is what actually happens after you're eliminated? On the show, for dramatic effect, they make the eliminated team go behind the fire and poof! They're gone. But what actually happens? Do they make you do multiple takes of that? And then do you just immediately go back to some hotel or something and get on a plane home? I've always wondered.
Secondly, were they strict about you guys going to the confessional? Did they tell you you had to go to it a certain amount of times a day or just whenever you could?
Thirdly, how did you like Skylar as a partner? Did you have anybody else in mind you wanted to be partnered with, and were you disappointed, indifferent, content when you guys got partnered up?
Fourthly, how nerve wracking was the Right to Stay mission?? I can't even imagine getting there and right off the bat they tell you 6 of you were about to be eliminated. I'd be freaking out!
And my last question is where did your parents stay during filming?
Thanks for doing this!

Well I don’t remember them doing multiple takes honestly but one thing that sucked is they did kind of whisk you away quickly if you won so you didn’t really get to say a decent good bye. What would happen after if you would do that fire shot and then you were taken to a boat that drives you around to the other side of the island where it is inhabited. There we were taken to the hotels where all of the parents were stayin and then we got met with the producer and someone else to sign paper work etc. I was lucky for when I was let go because I believe it was on a weekend so they were going to fly us out until that Monday. So my mom and I got to took around the next day in the town which was really fun.
The confessionals I know they wanted us to do them a certain number of times and I actually got talked to a bunch for not doing them in a timely fashion haha. But in the booth there would be suggested questions to answer to help you along.
I loved having Skyler as a partner, he was sweet and unique and we had awesome conversations. He sadly made bad choices which got on my nerves on ocassion. And of course I wanted max, I had a massive crush on him while I was there haha.
The right to stay mission was a bit scary at first until I found out what we would be doing. I wasn’t to worried then because i am really good and grin and bare it kind of things haha.
My mother stayed on the inhabited side of the island in a hotel that the studio paid for, as well as all of the other parents.

I love hearing your responses Chelsea! It's quite interesting to see another perspective.
That said, how do you like living in the Pacific Northwest? What do you miss most about Arizona?

I absolutely love the summers out here. I am in absolute heaven and spend the day outside with the kiddos haha. The winters are a bit depressing over time since the snow only shows up occasionally. What I miss about Arizona is monsoon season. I never realized that you could have rain without lightening and thunder which is something I miss so very much.

How much freedom did you guys have to explore and hang out? I’m aware that they could only film a certain number of hours a day due to child labor laws or whatever. When not filming (or even when filming), could y’all move around the beach quite freely or were you chaperoned at all times?
On that note, was is strange to adjust to being filmed?

I mean honestly we were filmed from 10-6 Monday through Friday if I remember correctly. And the entire time we were able to move about the island as we pleased. At night when the cameras left we did have a chaperone for the girls hut and one for the boys. It took a day or two to get used to being filmed always but honestly the camera teams were pretty sneaky and you definitely forgot they were there at times and at other times we would wait them out until they went to film something else so we could talk haha.

Some more questions from me if you don't mind! Was there anybody in particular you didn't really get along with when you first met, but you ended up becoming friends with by the time you got eliminated? How did you feel about blue/red/yellow targeting literally every single other team? Did it frustrate you at all? Were you scared/nervous about going to Temple every time you got sent up? Do you think Sabrina actually liked Aaron, or was it part of her "strategy"? When you did the reunion show, did you hope to be one of the people returning for the second season of Endurance? Would you do Endurance again if you had the chance? What was JD Roth like? What's his off-screen persona like? Did you play an active part in the production or was he mostly just focused on hosting? After the show was over, did you ever consider doing another reality show like Endurance, such as Survivor/Big Brother/The Challenge...? Did you every catch the "showbiz" bug? Does it surprise you that after all this time since you guys filmed in 2002 that there are still Endurance fans out there who know literally everything about the show? Like the people on this board haha.

I wish I had some more thoughtful questions, but I am definitely here reading through it all! This thread is awesome. Thanks again for doing this, Chelsea!

Like the people on this board haha. would say I didn’t hit it off immediately with Ashley, but definitely became closer to her as the show went on but I didn’t dislike her really to begin with. I wouldn’t say I was frustrated with it as honestly since it seemed like the stereotypical dynamic between the “cool” kids and the not so cool kids lol. What bothered me was people thinking they would change or not eliminate them just because lol. I wouldn’t say scared or nervous persay, I just didn’t like the idea of having to leave because you do get insanely close with everyone they become a bit of a twisted second family lol I believe she specifically stated that she like to use people to get them to do what she wants. I think she may have liked him but I honestly don’t know to what extent. I really didn’t talk to her much. I wanted to go back if it was with the original team yes but not with the new season. Not being able to take a shower very often and such was not fun. I loved the people I was with but man you feel gross quick after being a few days out from taking a shower lol. JD was awesome, I had many talks with him and I remember one time when I was handed the samadhi with the tied rope in it I just busted out laughing because it just seemed like the most ridiculous thing. JD agreed that it was pretty d**n funny. I got to know his team fairly well since they had to take care of me too. Well it was JD production company so I would say more then likely he had a hand in the production. I was actually asked to do another show right after I was eliminated and my mom and I never heard more about it sadly. I never got the show biz bug in regards to television and honestly didn’t want to do another reality show because it can bring out the worst in people and the older you get the bar for bad things grow lol. I did want to become a singer though but obviously that never came to fruition. Yes it definitely surprises me that there are still these groups who love the show so much.

So, did you see any of the eliminated contestants before you? Like Layla or Max when you got to the hotel? Or were you just taken back home at the next available flight. (Essentially, when did you find out what happened to the rest of the final 4??) No they all left the following day of being eliminated, we didn’t get to say proper goodbyes to the eliminated contestants which sucked because you may have forgotten to get an email or phone number etc.

Who do you think you and Skyler would have targeted if you ended up winning a mission? Who would you have given the samadhi to and who do you think you would have selected to send to Temple? Were you and Skyler annoyed that Aaron betrayed the "Brotherhood" alliance almost immediately? Aaron started an alliance with Skyler, Trevor, and Brandon, yet immediately turned around and gave the samadhi to you guys and sent Green up to temple the first chance he got... Did your season ever have an off-camera reunion after you finished filming? Obviously you did the televised reunion, but did you guys ever have one off-camera? Was the televised reunion basically the last time you saw everyone? How did you feel about Max and Jenna being the ones voted to return for Endurance 2? Was Skyler as antisocial as the show made him out to be? Were you friends with Christian during filming, and do you know what happened to him after the show? How long of a walk/hike was it from your camp to the Temple of Fate? Could you see the Temple of Fate from the camp? How did you feel about Blue winning your season? Do you feel like they were deserving and were you surprised to find out they won? Have you met any other cast members from other seasons? Any particular reason you didn't watch the other seasons? Thanks again for doing this! No other cast member has done an AMA to my knowledge! This is awesome

So was it a portapotty situation? How often did they get cleaned?
I'd imagine the ocean or a private area was another option?

Chelsea what was the most interesting thing to have happened while on Endurance that wasn't shown on tv?
