Thanks to YouTube I can now rewatch all the episodes lol. I binged most of them and I haven’t seen these since I was a teenagers so I have a fresh perspective!
Rewatching this season, I have to say this really was the ultimate Endurance season. I mean, I will always have a soft spot for E1 but this season was just awesome.
I liked E2 while it was on but looking back it was kind of whatever. I really didn’t like any of the teams except the Orange team. I didn’t really care for the Brown team winning...I liked Jenna but Max always kind of rubbed me the wrong way. And Scooter annoyed me to no end, I was so glad he got kicked off early.
I thought Tehachapi was such a boring season. I don’t really have anything to say about it other than it was a snooze fest.
High Sierras started ok (best Right to Stay mission ever IMO), but the entire cast really bothered me when they targeted Grey immediately. Too much of a popularity contest IMO, and the amount of backstabbing done that season was insane. And I hated the final two teams, I thought they bullied everyone and they were all just mean.
Fiji, same as Tehachapi. Sucks Endurance had to end with this, with a slow miserable fizzle rather than with a bang.
Anyways, back to Hawaii!! Such a great season. A great cast and some great teams and some awesome drama. Even the kids who got eliminated during the Right to Stay were memorable! Lol. Speaking of that, poor Eleanor. She really wasn’t Endurance material, was she? First girl to fall during the Right to Stay, and THEN she was the first one to be eliminated during the Secone Chance round. She only lasted 3 minutes while everyone else made it at least 15 minutes. Poor thing, honestly that must have been embarrassing.
As for all the teams, here are my thoughts-
Blue- omg Willa was SO mean to Antonio. When the show first aired, I enjoyed the drama this team had, but man, rewatching it is just painful. Ok so Antonio was a little weird, but he did NOT deserve any of the wrath that Willa gave him. I felt bad for the guy...he was actually really nice and was the only one who stuck up for Monroe when everybody else said he was weak. Ironically, Monroe was the one that sent him to Temple and got him eliminated. 😑 This poor guy just couldn’t catch a break. It’s actually kind of sad because they had so much potential to be a strong team. Individually, Antonio and Willa were pretty strong! They were one of the three last teams in the “Ring of Fire” challenge and one of the only teams to successfully hit their pole with a bag in “Bagging on You”. When it was their turn to eliminated a team, despite everyone saying “YELLOWWW” they decided to eliminate Green. If only they had eliminated Yellow, they might have not only potentially NOT been sent to Temple, but they may have even won that whole mission! Oh how things could have been different. They had SO much potential to be a great team, but they self imploded right after the Partner game, mostly thanks to Willa and her horrible attitude. But if they had stuck around, maybe they would have had a journey similar to Tyler and Michelle in E2 (hated each other at first, then got close and ended up making the final 3). Guess we will never know!
Green- I thought they were a strong team, and was surprised to see them eliminated so quickly. Bjorn was kind of boring to me though, they kept bringing up how he had 9 fingers, and it’s like ok, that’s not even that interesting lol. But yea, I think had they lasted longer they could have maybe won. Unfortunately they didn’t make the right alliances, and when you’re a strong team with an alliance with a weak team (Yellow), you’re going to be a target if you don’t win a mission.
Red- probably my least favorite team this season. I don’t think either Rachel or Kareem were strong at all and they had no chemistry as partners. They were just kind of in the background the whole competition until they got eliminated. And Rachel’s hissy fit when she got sent to Temple was kind of funny because she made no sense. She was mad and was like “why would you send a weak team to the Temple?!” Well Rachel, this IS Endurance and if you’re a weak team that’s just sitting around, you’re just wasting space lol. She relied too much on her alliances to carry her team through the competition and they got eliminated as soon as they cut the umbilical chord. Orange kind of relied too heavily on their alliances too, but at least they won SOME of the missions, unlike Red.
Brown- a team that I liked at first and rooted for, but they ended up being really weak. I think Tom was a good player but he got stuck with a bad partner. He picked Vanetta, yea, but it’s not like he had much to choose from. It was either her, Taylor, and Eleanor lol. No way was he going to pick Eleanor. Between Vanetta and Taylor it was honestly a toss up. I don’t think Taylor would have been much of a strong partner either, so he was kind of screwed either way. And I always felt like Vanetta gave up way too easily. In the Right to Stay challenge, she kept saying “I can’t do this” and she let go. She did that again in the Second Chance challenge too, although to her credit she lasted longer than the other girls. She just didn’t seem to want it bad enough, and wasn’t willing to endure physical pain. Maybe if Tom had gotten someone like Willa, he would have lasted longer. But again, this team suffered from not having strong alliances with people and they never really won a challenge so they were kind of useless, like the Red team.
Purple- I like Reece, but didn’t like Sarah. She seemed really jealous of the other girls and she often played by handicapping people she didn’t like rather than thinking strategically. Reece kind of went along with whatever his friends told him, but at least he was strong and a bit more likable. I thought it was dumb to give the Samadhi to the Yellow team after the Ring of Fire challenge. They sounded so dumb because they completely contradicted themselves with their reasoning. They told JD it would make the most sense to give it to a strong team, and then they turned around and gave it to Yellow LOL. Bryanah even called them out on it, and they just kind of shrugged. Admit it, you guys just didn’t like them and were being petty. It would have made way more sense to give it to Green. Anyways, overall I thought they were just kind of smug and thought they were better than everyone else. Not my favorite team, but not my least favorite.
Yellow- of course I love Yellow. They were the true underdogs and definitely deserved to win this season. Monroe MADE this season. From all his screaming and his “STOP ITTTT!!!!!!” and all his other HILARIOUS one liners, my god he was reality TV gold haha. And I really loved the journey they went on. They started out as a really weak team but just got stronger and stronger. They never gave up or quit on each other. Bryanah hated him at first but unlike Willa did with Antonio, she decided to suck it up and give him a chance and it worked out beautifully for them!! I love how she said towards the end of the season how much she appreciated and adored Monroe despite stereotyping him at first. During the Partner Game, when she initially was horrified to be paired with him, I was just like Oh Bree! If only you knew you just got a great partner! Haha. The only thing I didn’t like was how they sent Blue to temple with orange. I don’t really understand why they did that. Not that I totally love the Blue team, but it just seemed really random. Monroe even said “why send Blue? If they get eliminated and Orange comes back, we’ve accomplished nothing!” So they thought about sending a strong team, but Bryanah didn’t want to send Grey, but ultimately decided to just send Blue. Which again, I don’t understand why. I know Bryanah didn’t want to send Chris, but why not send Purple?? They gave you the Samadhi for petty reasons AND they’re a strong team and Sarah hates you, so why was Purple overlooked with this? Why not Red? I don’t get the logic! Haha. Anyways, love this team, my favorite in Endurance history.
Orange- like Monroe, Nicole also made this season for me. She was the true villain of this season, but man she was SO entertaining!!! I will forever love her despite what anybody says haha. She was ruthless, manipulative, untrustworthy, and I loved every second of her antics! Lol. Poor Demian was miserable being stuck with her, but they were still so entertaining! As an actual team though, they were kind of mediocre. Not strong, but not weak either. They won some challenges, but I do think they lucked out a lot. Mostly got so far by making alliances with the right people and making unkept promises, and scheming with bad intentions lol. Like Lindi said, they just kind of “slid their way through”, and only made the top 2 because they got lucky, not because they were actually a strong team. But yes, love Nicole forever!! Haha. Her and Monroe are two of the most memorable contestants ever.
Grey- didn’t care to see them win. They were a strong team, and probably deserved the win. They worked well together and had great chemistry. But like the Purple team, I thought they were just kind of smug and thought they were better than everyone else. I didn’t like how Chris manipulated Bryanah in the Partner game and still tried to look like the nice guy and pretend he didn’t know what was going on. Ugh no. And when Lindi bumped Bryanah in the Partner Game she kind of had a “whatever, get over it” kind of vibe when Bryanah had every right to be upset. Lol whatever. And also, in the “Squaring Off” game, they came *this* close to winning, but let Orange win instead. Like Nicole said, the Grey team basically made them do their dirty work for them by letting them win and send Green and Yellow to Temple. Ugh, they never wanted to look like the bad guys even though they did their fair share of plotting like everyone else. Not my favorite team, but I guess they did deserve the win. They played strategically and worked well together, they just weren’t super likeable to me.
Just a really great season overall, my favorite!
