I decided to make this poll after rewatching "Final Elimination": the third place team, in general, is considered to be the fan-favorite team. So, who's your favorite team who left just before they could've won it all...?

Looking at all of them, I have a good idea which one is my favorite, but it hurts to see such good teams gone.
For e1, Yellow and Blue are definitely the strongest teams, which makes this the least sad of the final eliminations. That said, Christian and Ashley are definitely characters in their own right, and have quite a bit of strength too! They just needed to prove it more.
For e2, Tyler and Michelle continue the "mismatched partnership" trend Lana and Trevor began, but they navigated the game well. You can't help but fall in love with Michelle, with her determined spirit and her wanting to win the game for her mom's sake. Tyler started off wanting to go home, but eventually wanted to win for Michelle. He also pulled off quite the maneuver for Aqueduct in throwing the Samadhi!
For e3, no words. Probably one of the most notable character arcs ever, for both Monroe and Bryanah.
For e4, Green basically had the game on lock; they were the only other team besides Aaron and Jonna to win three missions in a row. Which makes them leaving before the finale a bit surprising, as well as their meltdown after winning Hang 5. But Isaac and Jeszie had their own distinct personalities and while that made their fallout harsh, made them lovable still for me.
For e5, I have nothing but love for Connor and Taylor. A bit like Monroe and Bryanah as they stood alone against the dominant alliance, but had their own idiosyncrasies and flaws (the team switch debacle, them selling out Gray, Taylor crying). But they really embodied perseverance for me, which is shown through their most notable achievement--surviving three trips to Temple.
For e6, Jonathan and Hannah have gone through their ups and downs, but tried to make things work. The way they won Shark Bait and Stand Bags makes it look like they reached a breakthrough. And then that teevee nut...
In the end, it's between e3 Yellow and e5 Blue for me, but I lean towards the latter.
