Mister Ham @firetruck421 kwdrewfan this for y'all and anyone else who has done this So I had a dream where I successfully ran an Endurance game and it actually motivated me to consider doing it. I was wondering if y'all had any advice about doing it. So this can be a thread where we discuss what works, what doesn't, etc. -What's the best way to film everything? Multiple cameras? How do you make sure everyone gets confessionals without taking too much time. -Scheduling. Do it all in one day? Two days? Multiple days? I was thinking if I did it over multiple weeks (i.e. eliminate 2 teams a weekend or something) then if they text each other during the week about strategy I could incorporate their text messages into the episodes. -How do you make sure everyone is motivated and understands the game? I was thinking about making one big FAQ page about how Endurance works and about how this game would be run. But what if they agree to play and are... not into it? :/ -Budgeting. How do you pay for everything? Is there a prize for winning? What about getting shirts for everyone, what's the cheapest way? -What do you have eliminated players do while everyone else is competing? and just like any other things that would help an Endurance game to run more smoothly.

Ah that is so exciting Bryan!! Yeah for me I have held upwards of 10 reality TV parties - most of them being survivor - and I've definitely learned a lot through it. Definitely have at least two cameras and make sure they are fully charged. This way you can get all angles and makes sure you don't miss out on something crazy that happens. For confessionals, I really like people doing it on their own phone. It cuts the time for confessionals down tremendously, and I think people are much more comfortable filming themselves, without having someone watching or listening. ALSO make sure you give them prompts or else they really don't know what they should be talking about and then you have footage that doesn't really do anything for you. Realistically my best recommendation for the game would be letting it take place over two different days. The games can get long and tiring, and people tend to get irritable at some point (you will definitely see it in mine, lol). However, if you have less teams and no twist, you could make it through one day. Like @firetruck421 said, definitely make sure everyone has ate and brings snacks or a meal with them, because hungry people turn hangry real quick. To make sure everyone is interested, I definitely say go with your gut. If you're close enough with the person, you'll probably get a good feel for if they'd be a good fit or not. If you don't think they would be, odds are they aren't. I make the rules of the game as well as an episode or two I like available (we usually have a facebook group I put this all in). I also made a Powerpoint and went through it all right before the party - which I can share with you if you'd like. Endurance is so much fun to play even if you know nothing about it. As long as people are competitive and have positive attitudes, I'm sure they will be a great fit for the season! From my current season everyone had so much fun, and are all pressing me about having a third season. Budgeting is a really important topic. I always try to design challenges around items I have at home, or ones that are cheap and easy to come by. I had a limit of $30 on items for challenges and didn't pass that. For shirts - make sure everyone wants to buy them and make them. I had us all make a trip to Michaels and everyone buy a shirt (they were $3). I bought the iron-on sheets by myself which can get pricey, so be careful. But they ended up looking AWESOME so I don't regret it whatsoever! That's why I think two days is perfect - the first day we did the partner mission (you also could throw in a RTS mission so there's more going on the first day), bought the shirts, got dinner, and went back to my house to make them and had a casual party. Then in the morning we woke up, ate, and started the team missions! The best part for my group was that there was no prize, people were really self-motivated and just wanted to compete. But like I said, knowing your group, you'll know what a good idea is. I might do trophies for my next season. And for eliminated players, I have them help with filming if they want. Usually they will want to see how it plays out. Just don't let them be too involved, because you want it to be about the current teams and not the eliminated ones. I'm excited to hear about how it all goes Bryan!! Endurance parties and a lotttt of fun and a lot of people said this was one of their favorite things they have ever done!!

Dude so I'm super happy you created this thread! Both Mats & Mitch's posts have already been really informative, and ps Mister Ham , I would also love to see the PowerPoint Although my Endurance game was a ton of fun and still one of my favorite memories ever, there were a lot of things that I wish I had done differently. It wasn't put together as similarly to the show as the other guys' versions, though to be fair it was my own fault in the planning of it. (that's actually part of why I haven't shared the videos from it with y'all, haha) So if anything, I can provide a list of Endurance Don't 's! Ours took place all in one day; we started the game at 10 AM and it wrapped up by... I think around 6? But we only had 6 teams, and only took 5-10 minutes in between challenges for confessionals + strategizing, as well as a 30 minute lunch break. So if I have another game I'm not sure how to work out the timeline, but I do know that I'm going to take AT LEAST a full 30 minutes in between challenges, and I'd rather have more time than that. What I'm most worried about as far as having another game now is trying to find multiple days where everyone could show up, considering my current friend group is a bunch of busy adults with varied jobs and schedules - but I'd still say that is the way to go. My goal is to hopefully get 2 days for competition, or at least one day & another evening or two. Luckily my group is large enough that there are plenty of people who won't be competing, all of whom I plan to ask if they'd be willing to help film. As Mats & Mitch said, definitely have your "camera crew" bring their own cameras (NOT PHONES) and ensure that they're fully charged. If you're lucky enough to find a location with outlets, then you're all set! I love the idea of players recording confessionals on their phones! At my Endurance we had a confessional booth set up (which was just a tent with a camera haha, but still!) and after each competition, teams would alternate going into the booth to record team confessionals. It was still private, as nobody except for you & your teammate was inside, but because of our limited schedule we didn't have a lot of time to get confessionals outside of those. We had the option of recording "individual confessionals" without our other team member, but again... not a lot of time to do so. I love the concept of a confessional booth, but if you're pressed for time then it really is a big time suck. One positive I can say about mine, though, is that my host came up with a really inventive way of doing Temple reveals that I thought was really cool! (if you check out the intro I made you can see it around :15) It does involve some skilled hand maneuvering, though, haha
