Just started rewatching E1 myself... you know what I just realized? When Max caught the green ball, Trevor was pointing to Lana... JD even commented on it "Trevor already pointing to who he wants". So in a way Max DID mess up the list... but he gave Trevor who he wanted? I never caught that before, surprisingly.

One of the most interesting partner selections of all time.

JD: Chelsea, did you bring any good luck charms with you to Temple tonight? Chelsea: I brought Sabrina's hair, because Lana had it on her thumb when she won.
That's.......extremely strange. How did I miss that exchange?

Two things I wonder about E1. I wonder what the Samadhi would have been for Leap of Faith. Maybe they have to start early? Or their thing goes faster? I really wanted to know! I wish JD would have said "This is what the Samadhi WOULD have been, if Blue gave it out" Also, how would Don't Drop The Ball would have worked if anyone but Red had been eliminated? I mean, Red had only one piece so it was a simple game over one piece. But what would happen if the team that was eliminated had more than one piece? Would the team who won Don't Drop The Ball get ALL the pieces? Would they do several rounds? It didn't seem like a very good battle for pieces mission.

Some long posts in here, but there's something about Plant the Flag... I noticed it when it was originally on TV and I don't know who else has...

Just finished rewatching E1 and I wondered if anyone else noticed when Orange and Purple went up to Temple, JD asks if they have any good luck charms. Chelsea replied she had a piece of Sabrina's hair and Brandon had a shell in his hair. During the last round, the shell in Brandon's hair fell out and the way it was edited, the clip was slowed down just a little bit and then there was a cut scene of what I guess was supposed to be JD reacting to the shell. Then afterwards, normally how Temple is edited is they'll either show one teams rock or have their decision audible, but you won't see the other one. This time, however, they showed both teams and then you can hear Layla whispering "I think we won." I just thought this edit was really weird. I guess it was supposed to imply that Brandon's shell falling out of his hair is why they lost? ??

In Plant The Flag @ 8:19... does Ashley literally kick Christian and glare at him?

When they announce blue team at the reunion, Sabrina's face is priceless!

Not rewatching, but just a general note. One of the things that made E1 so great was the editing. Literally every single person (who made it on a team at least) got some sort of camera time and had a story line, even if it was small. This made them all memorable in their own way. In some other seasons (looking at E5 especially), a lot of the people are just... there (i.e. Kristine, Aeriel, Cameron, even Alex). You really connected to all of the E1 players in some way which made it a really great season... lots of growth, lots of interesting things happening, fun to watch.

I just realized that in Tilt, the order of elimination went as follows:
Gray Green Orange Purple Red Yellow Blue
If you simply swapped the placements of Green & Purple, then you would have an Order of Elimination that perfectly mirrors the season as a whole.

Also, in Squeeze Play, I find the whole debacle interesting where Layla is put off by Sabrina & Ashley not honoring their "alliance" with Purple. It seems like an innocent case of misunderstanding (and misplaced trust) on Layla's part, but kind of apathetic forgetfulness from Sabrina & Ashley since they didn't really mean it in the first place.

--the Samadhi: If Blue had given it to Yellow, how much the game could've changed? Probably a lot, because the Brotherhood would still be intact, and I doubt that Yellow would've been able to overcome it. So if Blue still wins Knotted Up as they did in the real game, I would probably see everything after going like this... Blue sends Yellow and Gray to the first Temple (because Jonna had mentioned that they wanted to send stronger teams at this point in the game, and being in the Brotherhood would've made them be able to overlook being annoyed by Trevor), and I think that the Curse of the Gray Team would still take effect. Nothing would change in Plant the Flag, with Yellow still winning and giving Purple the Samadhi, nor Squeeze Play, with Red still winning and sending Orange and Purple. However, things would be different in Eruption, because Blue would send Red and Yellow to Temple instead of Green and Orange, and I think the whole game would change there, based on whomever was eliminated. House of CardsIf Red is eliminated, then either Green would win and give the Samadhi to Yellow, or Yellow would win and give the Samadhi to Blue. If Yellow is eliminated, Green would still win as in the actual game, and give the Samadhi to Red. Dial InI believe that even without the Samadhi, Blue would still win and send whoever came back from Temple in Eruption with Orange. As a result, we've got a few possible final threes here: Blue, Green and Yellow Blue, Green and Red Blue, Green and Orange Build a Pyramid/Leap of Fate**this is all assuming that the Samadhi isn't removed from the game Blue, Green and Yellow — Blue wins, gives Samadhi to Yellow; Green wins, Blue and Yellow go to Temple, and Yellow goes home. Final two of Blue and Green (interesting...) Blue, Green and Red— same as above Blue, Green and Orange— Orange wins, gives Samadhi to Blue; Green wins, Blue and Orange go to Temple, and Blue goes home. Final two of Green and Orange Wow, that was a lot to think about, wasn't it?

I'm just rewatching the reunion (just for fun, and it's a bit more breezy compared to a whole season), and here are some thoughts: Jenna (on how it felt to be the first team out): "Oh, it felt great..." Sabrina: "But I did make good friends and I'm still friends with...people...here..." This honestly stands out to me because Sabrina was so willing to win, she threw almost everybody on the bus. What's also interesting is how she is a bit harder on her Endurance experience than anybody else; even Nicole and Cealey, two other notable villains of their season, seem open to mentioning it from time to time (and Cealey mentioned on a podcast about how her experience on E5 impacted her life and her trajectory into sports broadcasting). In addition, Sabrina modeled for a bit post-show, but then became more obscure as time goes on. Why do you think that is? (This is also why she would be interesting to interview, though it's not really likely) Not Christian and Ashley failing to keep in touch after the show, haha. Were there teams you thought were really close on the show, but aren't so much afterwards? --Why was it so surprising that Yellow was voted most likely to keep in touch? I always get a bittersweet feeling from this, because for most of these contestants, this is probably the last time they saw each other in the same place. And considering E1 is not a strong season in terms of friendships and whatnot, that's more likely than expected.

I honestly think Sabrina faded into obscurity because of Endurance. I’ve wrote about this before but nowadays we can look back and appreciate her as an iconic reality TV villain and also understand that she was a literal child and isn’t some evil maniacal person. But at the time, the teen audience at the time was very against her behavior. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was occasionally harrassed over the Internet. Also, as she aged into being an adult and wanted to start a professional life, she would probably want to separate herself from Endurance as it mostly painted a negative view of her personality. Of course, any employer worth their salt wouldn’t care about someone’s behavior when they were 15 years old but it’s still an association that exists and if you’re trying to advance professionally you may want to separate yourself from it (as we’ve seen with Sarah E2 and Garret attempting to scrub themselves from Endurance altogether lol)
