Endurance 4: Yosemite— Episode 1
(The camera shows JD standing on the outcropping of a grassy hillside with a view of several rocky green hills and cascading waterfalls in the background; also visible are several mountains and cliffs with a vast multitude of animals crossing them)
JD: For three years, contestants have battled it out against each other and dug down deep inside themselves to find out who they really are on the interior. (flashback clips of the first three seasons are shown individually) They've competed in the rough terrain of Santa Barbara Island in the Pacific, the sweltering hot beaches of Lake Victoria in Kenya and the wetter-than-average jungles of the Amazon basin in Peru. By the end of each season, one team remained and proved they had true endurance to rise above everything else. (flashback clips of the three winners of the first three seasons are shown one by one) This year, we've moved the competition to the groves and lakes of Yosemite National Park, where many settlers have proceeded through these mountains via wagon train and in many other formats to form a new life without their friends and families.
(Cuts to show 20 teenagers sitting in two Conestoga wagons as they progress along the hills)
JD: For the next several weeks, this new group of 20 teens will make the forests and waterfalls of Yosemite their home in hopes that they can prove their worth as the Endurance Champs.
(Transitions to the contestants sitting in the Conestoga wagons for their close-ups)
Cody: (a boy of average height with short brown hair and hazel eyes) Hey, I'm Cody, I'm 14 and I live in Seattle, Washington!
Wynter: (a girl with icy blue eyes and straight, waist-length blond hair) My name's Wynter, I'm 15 and I'm from Reno, Nevada.

Adriana: (a girl with wavy, chest-length dark brown hair, freckles and green eyes) Hey, my name's Adriana, I'm 13 and I live in Fresno, California! I'm a little bit of a suck-up and very sensitive around other people, but I'm totally indifferent and adventurous, which I love about myself...
Michael: (a slightly taller-than-average boy with very short black hair and hazel eyes) Hey everyone, my name's Michael, I'm 15 and I am from Caldwell, Texas.
JD: The wooded mountains and the picturesque lakes of Yosemite National Park will be their residence as they bond and make efforts to get along with one another.
(Cuts back to the Conestoga wagons to introduce more of the players)
Tiffany: (a girl with brown eyes and straight, shoulder-length brown hair) Hey, my name is Tiffany, I'm 14 and I live in Paducah, Kentucky.

(Cuts back to the Conestoga wagons to introduce the second-to-last group)

I've moved around a lot since I was about five, and I've had many friendships which would prove an advantage; when I'm around others, I try to be loyal and honest but not stoic despite that I'm a flirt...
Nathanael: (a blond boy with blue eyes and a constellation of freckles on every visible part of his body) Hi, I'm Nathanael; I go by Nathan or Nate, I'm 14 and I live in Bismarck, North Dakota!

If I think someone's resisting my decisive intentions, I don't hesitate to stand up for myself, but I'm incredibly athletic but not competitive when I play a game even though I'm a total perfectionist...
JD: With insurmountable drama, convoluted twists and cunning turns awaiting the competitors as the competition makes its progress the teams will combat past them to achieve victory.
(Cuts back to the Conestoga wagons to introduce the last five)

Quentin: (a copper-skinned African American boy with short black hair and brown eyes) Wassup? I'm Quentin, I'm 14 years old and I live in San Rafael, California! A few of my friends think I'm a shy bookworm because of my seemingly stable knowledgeable resolve, but I wanna prove to them that I'm attractive, strong and a fierce competitor...
Katarzyna: (a girl with blue-green eyes, visible braces and straight, shoulder-length blond hair flecked by chocolate brown streaks) Hi, my name's Katarzyna or as I like to be called Katy, I'm 14 years old and I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
JD: In the end, only one team that has overcome every obstacle will have the opportunity to prove that they have the greatest Endurance!
[Opening Titles]
20 Competitors
— Shows the contestants walking up a hillside, talking, fighting, hugging and crying
13 Challenges
— Shows the contestants participating in physical and mental challenges
9900 Feet Above the Sea Level
— Shows the lakes, forests, groves and the wildlife; cuts to the contestants competing in the challenges, celebrating victories and the Temple of Fate
ENDURANCE: YOSEMITE
— Shows the Endurance: Yosemite title card
(the title graphic zooms in and segues to the contestants walking up to the hill where JD stands)
JD: Hey guys! (the contestants greet JD in response variously) As you know from watching the first three seasons, I'm JD Roth and also what I wanna say is congratulations; you were all fortunate enough to proceed through thousands of kids who auditioned for this to make it to Endurance!
(the contestants all cheer, shout, raise their hands and sport wide grins in response)
JD: As you guys know, out here there's no modern appliances and only nothing but Mother Nature itself. You wanna see where you're living?
Contestants: YEAH!!
JD: Over there from this point, just past that evergreen grove is where you'll be living. They're actually two-story treehouses that don't have any running water or electricity inside them. I'm sure you guys know from watching the show that you've gotta get all pyramid pieces first, right? (the contestants all respond differently) This year we've got fifteen pyramid pieces, which are— (shows a close-up of each pyramid piece as revealed by JD) Knowledge, Leadership, Luck, Discipline, Perseverance, Trust, Heart, Commitment, Strength, Courage, Teamwork, Ingenuity, Friendship, Karma and Clarification; the reason why the new piece has that name is because past contestants have clarified how much they wanted to win in almost any way possible. For the most part, two of you are in fact the new Endurance champs. We just gotta determine who it'll be. Don't forget though, if you wanna acquire all the pyramid pieces, you need to at least survive the Temple of Fate.
(the camera transitions to show the Temple of fate perched on the outcropping of a hill's cliff, which is partially covered by a grove of oak trees)
JD: On elimination days, two unlucky teams will have to take the long walk through the forest, across the waterfall's outcropping and up the ridge to the Temple of Fate. Sure enough, two teams are gonna enter the Temple, but only one returns to the treehouses. Speaking of that, I wanna start off today by saying nobody's going home tonight!
(the contestants all cheer, clap and sport wide grins as an expression of relief)
JD: That's right! Each and everyone of you is gonna have the opportunity to spend at least one night in the treehouses right in Yosemite; but for six of you, it's gonna be your first and only night here. (a few big grins and smiles fade from a faces) Alright, I'll go ahead and let you check out the treehouses for yourselves and I'll catch up with you later!
(the contestants all walk down a narrow trail of big evergreen trees)
(the contestants cheer and shout in excitement as they walk towards an evergreen grove that reveals the symmetrically designed treehouses)
Olivia (interview): At first, I thought the treehouses were just regular ones, but when I saw the way they were built, I was like "Oh my gosh, I gotta live here!"
(the camera fades into the easternmost treehouse, where all the boys are climbing and entering)
Zak: No way! (runs over to the upper bed on the bunk near the opposite window) I call first pick on this bed!
Justin: Crap! I wanted that bunk! But I'll take the one I'm next to now.
Quentin: I've always wanted to have the top bunk!
Michael: Whataya mean by that? You'll get the top bunk someday!
Quentin: You watch your mouth!
Michael: Oh, okay I'll lay off.
Quentin: At least we're all together now!
Stuart: Yeah, with beds that could use some softening! (the other boys laugh and chuckle)
Stuart (interview): Even though the beds are too hard to automatically be called beds, these are the best treehouses that i ever would've imagined!
James: Everybody's gotta chill.... we've only got one day to live in the most amazing treehouses ever!
Cameron: Can we at least have some fun with the girls?
Michael: Is there gonna be tons of flirting??
Cameron: Man, what are you thinkin'?! Of course we'll be flirting!
Cody (interview): I think a few crushes are starting up already; I'm not gonna lie when I say I'm falling for Courtney hard and fast!
Justin: Hopefully we'll see a perfect teammate in the girls!
Quentin: Hey, hey! Don't jump to conclusions just yet!
Cameron (interview): I'm not really concerned, for the most part. Despite the fact that I'll produce strong performances here and there or be the least threat, I know I'm gonna get really far in the game once I beat the Right to Stay; aside from that, I am definitely not leaving tonight with these treehouses!
(the camera segues into the westernmost treehouse, where all the girls are claiming bunks and talking)
Courtney: Can you believe we're actually living in a treehouse with a trunk that runs right up it?!
Katarzyna: Nuh-uh! That tree's like one of our own friends aside from the stuffed animals a few of us brought along!
Tiffany: (giggles) Great one, uh.... How do you say your name again?
Katarzyna: Ka-tar-SHEE-nah, or you can call me Katy.
Tiffany: I'll stick with Katy.
Adriana: Speaking of that, have you heard how cute some of the guys are?!
Hannah: You don't have to tell me twice! (laughs softly)
Adriana: At least we're not talking partners!
Lindsay (interview): The guys here are so hot! I don't necessarily have one I like in particular, but I think I'd want a stronger one like Mike or Cameron.
Courtney: Yeah, before we jump to pairing up with the boys, there's an elimination on our plate.
Annalise: Can we please not worry about that?
Courtney: Whatever! I just wanna be an Endurance player.
Annalise (interview): I know people are gonna have low expectations of me at certain points but I'm gonna show 'em up whenever I can; I also adore these treehouses cause they've got a lookout point on the top floor and a tree inside mine and I just can't picture me leaving tomorrow.
(the camera then segues to show the kids exploring the upper floor of the treehouses, swimming and talking by the treehouse bridge)
(the sun sets and then transitions to night, where the treehouses' campfire chasm burns in the darkness; night then switches to a sunny day with very little clouds, and then the camera fades to the left-hand treehouse)
Andrew: Can you actually fathom that six of us are never gonna see each other again?
Hannah: Nope. I wish we could just let it happen so I can just stop worrying about it!
Michael: That's the last thing I want; is to get kicked off on the first day. It's so disappointing and humiliating!
Justin: (sighs and runs his hand through his hair) If only we had a free ride like last year.
Wynter: Too bad they can't do it again.
Michael: Speaking of the Right to Stay, who do you think is gonna lose?
Nathanael: I've got no clue, but I think James or Annalise is gonna get sent home. Only because they don't look all that strong.
Hannah: If I were you, I wouldn't underestimate people based on their style.
Nathanael: I'm not trying to be stereotypical! It's just my guesstimate.
Faith (interview): I'm one of the youngest and smallest girls here so I think I'm at a disadvantage. But I've got a lot of self-confidence heading into this and the only thing me, the girls and everyone else wants is to be an official Endurance player.
(the camera then segues to the contestants walking through the wooded path to the lake where JD stands)
JD: Hey everyone! (the contestants greet JD in response variously) I know it's been a full 24 hours and you're all fast friends in so little time but it's time to try and proceed past the Right to Stay. You guys up for it? (the contestants all respond hesitantly and nervously) Not an extremely strong reaction but I'll tell you what the challenge is! (the camera switches to show the equipment in the lake) Out there, there are ten hangers approximately seven feet above the water; this challenge is just simple— when I say go, you'll grab onto one of the hangers and swoop out to the water as the platform you stand on is dragged away. Your only designated task is to hold onto the hanger as long as you can because if you drop, you splash in the water and you're out of the game. The first 3 guys and the first 3 girls who fall will be immediately eliminated, while the other 14 become the official contestants of Endurance. All clear? (the contestants nod in agreement) Okay, so the girls will be going first for this round, so head out into the water.
(the camera transitions to show the girls standing on the platforms getting ready to grab the handles)
Annalise (interview): I'm one of the younger girls here, so I think I might have a slight problem. But I'm still definitely confident I can overcome that and win, so I'm game for anything!
JD: Okay, girls, you ready? (the girls all cheer and shout in response) On your mark, get set, GO!! (the mechanism linked to the handles activates, which hoists the girls away from the boxy-like platforms into the air) Hold on girls, hang on!
Adriana: Dang, that's heavy.
Hannah: (whispers to herself) It's all mind over matter, Hannah, so give it your all...
(the camera cuts to the boys onshore cheering the girls, then fades back to them)
Lindsay: Don't worry! I'm not gonna drop!
Tiffany: If it gets too much, you'll have to let go!
Lindsay: Well it isn't now!
(the camera fades to the same shot, except with a clock in the bottom-left corner reading 1:13)
JD: Okay, girls; it's been well over a minute now! Just keep going and hang on there!
Wynter: This is so painful.
Olivia: Just don't think about it and hold on!
Wynter: I'm gonna fall! (she slips from the handle and splashes into the water)
JD: First girl's out of the competition— Wynter, come on and take a seat.
Katarzyna: You're doing good, Adriana, don't worry about it.
Adriana: Thanks for the tip.
Katarzyna: Same with you.
(the camera cuts to a wide shot, with Tiffany visibly faltering in the distance)
Courtney: Whoa, whoa, Tiffany! Do not let go!
Tiffany: I have to drop!
Faith: Just cling for life! (Tiffany drops from her handle and hits the water)
JD: Second girl's out— Tiffany and Wynter have been cut, and now only one more girl has to fall and that's the end!
(the camera fades to another further-from-the-ground shot, except the clock now reads 4:39)
JD: Almost five minutes since this game's began, girls; just hold on a little more!
Annalise: I want some food!
Katarzyna: Well I'm hungry for victory!
Hannah: Aren't we all hungry for victory?
Katarzyna: (sheepishly) Point taken.
Hannah: We have just a couple more seconds now! (at that exact moment, two splashes are heard)
JD: And the third girl falls although two fell at once— after looking for a second, it was Faith that fell, so she, Wynter and Tiffany are going home and you seven are now the official girls of Endurance! (the girls cheer and scream as they jump into the water, high-fiving and hugging as they swim ashore)
Adriana (interview): I was this close— (shows her point by placing her thumb and index finger a quarter apart)— this close to falling, but at the last second, I summoned myself to stay on and here I am now.
Hannah (interview): That was just downright painful, but I managed to push right through it; i'm an official Endurance player and now I'm 110% ready to win this game!
(the camera cuts to show the losing girls swimming onto the shore)
Wynter (interview): I'm just flat-out disappointed right now to have to leave so early, but at the end of the day, I can genuinely say I did my best and made some new friendships I will never forget.
Tiffany (interview): I'd been foundering for a few seconds, so when I tried to fix the problem, I dragged myself lower and I tried to hoist myself back up, but that didn't work and I fell; on the whole, I'm not sad or anything, but I just tried as hard as possible.
Faith (interview): It goes without saying that I'm underrated for physical challenges and I'm not fit for this task, I managed to bump up that theory a little, and I still got to meet and know 19 other kids whom i hope to keep in touch with for a long time.
*SECOND HALF OF CHALLENGE TO BE ADDED LATER*
