So we have to do a persuasive essay for English (I'm actually in English right now! =P) and I was going to do one about bringing Endurance back. However, I kind of need 3 reasons to bring it back...I have 2, it was once very popular and still is, and it changes the lives of the participants for the better...I need one more. Also, I have some questions that I need the answers to. What are the companies involved with Endurance (Discovery, DK, 3Ball)'s opinions on bringing it back? Who wants to bring it back and who doesn't? Also are there any ratings on how many people watched Endurance, or even tried out...thanks for any help yall might give me =P Rough draft due in 2 days, hurry! xD

You should mention the popularity of it just on the tv and online because not all fans of the show get online to talk about it. You should also mention how it inspired people like us to actually make our own ORGs and stories based on the real show! =D I wrote a journal last semester about Endurance and we also read a poem that symbolized Endurance. xP

Mension its a good show because it's age apropriate, because it is exciting but DOESNT have any sex or drug refrence! One of the only shows out that our age watches that's safe!

I wrote the rough draft, here it is: (I made some stuff up, particularly the Vanetta thing, to make it sound better xD):
Bring Back Endurance! Endurance, a popular teen reality show, was cancelled after the sixth season, because of lack of funding and decline in viewing. It featured twenty teenagers, aged twelve to fifteen, who traveled to a remote location to compete for an all-expense paid trip for them and their family to an exotic place. It was immensly popular on the “Discovery Kids on NBC” lineup during the show’s first three seasons, where it was aired on Saturday mornings on NBC. Since it was taken out of NBC and was only aired on Discovery Kids (which was not available in standard TV packaging), ratings dropped. However, three more seasons followed. The last season, which was filmed in Fiji, was very costly and expensive to produce, and the show was canceled (however, reruns are still aired on Discovery Kids). Many feel that the show should return for one or more seasons. Many fans of the show have petitioned and called 3Ball (the production company that originally made Endurance), Discovery Kids, and Discovery since it has been canceled. This lead them to announce that Endurance was “On Hold” and that no decision has been made yet about it returning or not. Petitions, combined, reached around 1,000 signatures. Many fans of the show have also sent in tapes explaining why Endurance should be brought back. Even previous Endurance players have made videos pleading for the show to be returned. Another reason to bring Endurance back is because of how it impacts the lives of the contestants. All together, there have been one-hundred-sixteen people on the show. They live together twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. If the contestants make it to the finals, they are there a total of three weeks. Many form a close bond and stay in contact with each other regularly. Many of the previous contestants have also stated that the show has taught them how to tolerate people who are different than them. Also, Endurance has lead many to other acting or producing careers. Vanetta Smith from Endurance: Hawaii has stated that Endurance lead her to want to pursue a career in front of the camera. Since then, she has appeared in several movies, including Freedom Writers. In addition, the locations are remote (there have been seasons in deserts, jungles, and on mountains), and the contestants live in huts with no electricity. They take cold showers once every two days and are only able to wash their clothes once a week. Being away from the many modern conveniences that teens commonly use today teaches them perseverance. For many, it’s the first time they’ve been away from such comforts. The third and final reason, and probably the most appealing to the television producers, is that Endurance has usually, until its final season, brought in large ratings. It aired Saturday mornings on NBC as part of a “Discovery Kids on NBC” segment, where it was immensely popular. Three seasons have also been nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards, but none have won. In 2004, for the Hawaii season, around 10,000 teenagers sent in tapes, hoping to be on the show. In 2006, the segment was taken off of NBC and all the shows her only aired on Discovery Kids. Still, Endurance brought in large ratings for season five. Season six, which was filmed in Fiji and thus very expensive, featured less episodes and contestants than other seasons. As a result, ratings dropped. With ratings dropping and out of money from filming in Fiji, the production team decided not to produce another season. 3Ball, the actual production team for Endurance, has stated they are interested in bringing it back as it is considered their most popular show, but Discovery has not decided to renew it. However, since demand is still high, Discovery has gone into negotiations to bring it back. Reruns are still one of the highest-rated shows on Discovery Kids. Parents also consider Endurance a very good program for their children because it does not feature profanity, sex, or drugs. Overall, Endurance was a very popular show that needs to be given another chance to prove its popularity. There are still many fans waiting for it to return, it changes the lives of the people who experience it, and it was once one of the highest rated teenage programs.
