Hooo boy I could go on forever about Eric!!! First of all, Jeremy Kissner was one of the better actors on the show and he absolutely CRACKS ME UP (like every 3rd sentence out of his mouth makes me laugh), so a lot of it is because he entertains me. But if you look into some of the comments Eric makes you can actually gather a lot about his home life/why he is the way he is... he mentions his parents fighting all the time, how he rarely spends any time with them, dysfunctional family gatherings/holidays, etc. - it's clear that he comes from a rather broken family and his parents make no effort to hide it from him. But instead of letting this neglectful, toxic environment hurt him, he decided to put up a defense mechanism of being the 'aloof joker' and not giving a crap about anything but taking care of himself. He makes sure that he is always his own #1 because no one else ever did. He has no support system, no role models... he has no reason to believe that actually TRYING to be a good person or succeed in life would be worth the effort, so he doesn't. Not that any of this is an excuse to be a jerk, but I find it all SOOOOO COMPELLING as a character!!! He really is just so interesting and complex with amazing potential for development, but the show wasn't given enough time to delve into it.

I know you probably didn't ask for all that but thanks everyone for coming to Ted talk, hmu if you want more in-depth analyses of F29D characters lolol

YESSS! I'd love to hear your thoughts as you rewatch!!! I watch f29d on like a yearly basis lol, so I know waaaay too much about it & the characters to be normal

but it's still my favorite show and I'm always dying to talk about it!

I need to rewatch F29D and Strange Days. As much as I love my DK reality shows it's been way too long since I saw their amazing scripted shows too. Also I'm with you Mats, I didn't like Eric but I'll keep an eye out for his character development when I rewatch
